If you want some degree of automation and organisation, you'll need a management program that isn't iTunes - and that's where programs like j.River Media Center comes in. Recommendations for a physical MP3 player that works w OSX? I use it with my main stereo and stream music to network players in other rooms. But I find it extremely capable and flexible, and because it is just a player, they have an interest in catering to you instead of the copyright rentiers. Not free, and it is a bit of a strange application at first. To anyone else who still wants to own their own music, I highly recommend looking at Jriver Media Center.

I plug the links into Serviio and use the Roku Media Player on my TV to display the media browser from the server, so I can pick which IPTV channel I want to watch. I don't have an HDMI cable long enough to go from the computer to the TV.

Streaming to BluRay players can be hit and miss (worked fine on my Sony, Samsung sucks) but it works fine with Roku (just need to install Roku Media Player from the app store).
